Christina Aguilera's "Lift Me Up"
"Lift Me Up" gives us a taste of what is to come from Aguilera's new album coming out this spring. It's a stripped down version and considering the producers on the album (Tricky, Santigold, M.I.A, etc.) I assume the production will be kicked up on the album but I still love this girl's voice, sorry Gaga but you don't have these pipes yet.
Leighton Meester- "Your Love's a Drug"
This is a much more poppy song from Leighton and I haven't decided if I love it or not yet. It will either be one of those songs that grow on you and you end up loving, or I've heard too many songs like this already... too soon to tell.
I Blame Coco Featuring Robyn- "Ceaser"
This song from Sting's daughter is hard to categorize for me, I'm not sure if it can be mainstream or not. I do know that it is smooth and easy listen, especially with Robyn's vocals and that cool production, Im not sure who produced but I like it.
Florence + the Machine- "Addicted to Love" Cover
Florence and the machine had one of the best debut's of the year in 2009. Their cover of "Addicted to Love" shows just how awesome Florence is, I like this version alot, and I think this is a better cover for her then the cover of "Halo" by Beyonce I've heard in the past.
M.I.A. "Space Odyssey"
M.I.A's rant at the New York Times in "Space Odyssey" is an awesome and different M.I.A. Its a simpler song with wayy less production then usual for her. Im guessing we might see a more conservative and poppier M.I.A this time around.
David Bryne and Fatboy Slim Featuring Santigold- "Please Don't"
By far the weirdest album set for release this year, David Bryne and Fatboy Slim's collaboration with a number of female singers with the theme of the first lady of the Philippines. I love Santigold though and will listen to anything with her involved. "Please Don't" is a keeper for that reason: Santigold. The collaborators Bryne and Slim are two very creative people who may pull off one of the weirdest and best of 2010.
She & HIm- In the Sun
"In The Sun" is a chirpy, sunny, catchy, song from the sophomore album by She & Him. I love She & Him and think they're a step back in time and life is simpler when they're playing. This first single is not disappointing in the least, it gives us She & Him fans what we want and I couldn't love it more.
Gorillaz's "Stylo"
Gorillaz had a new career peak with their last album Demon Days I wasn't sure if they could do better...Im still not to be honest, and won't be sure until they release Plastic Beach. This single shows a different Gorillaz than the poppier singles from Demon Days. "Stylo" is darker and more aggressive thanks to singer Bobby Womack. Jury's out on this one so far...
Goldfrapp-Rocket
Goldfrapp's new single "Rocket" is an awesome return to the dancefloor after the peaceful tunes from their last album Seventh Tree. "Rocket" is a look backwards to Supernature but an evolution of their past sounds into something new. No surprise: it works. This will definatly be on my playlists for the first half of 2010...at least the first half.
